Nottingham Business School at Nottingham Trent University achieves EQUIS accreditation

Nottingham Business School (NBS) has been awarded the prestigious EQUIS accreditation – the highest international benchmark of excellence for business schools.

This important recognition moves NBS into an elite group of business schools worldwide and is further testament to the School’s rigorous and innovative standards of teaching and research, which are at the heart of its mission to combine academic excellence with impact upon business and society, developing responsible business leaders.

Less than 1% of business schools across the world hold both EQUIS and AACSB accreditation, and only 19 out of the 130+ UK schools – elevating NBS’ status as one of the most prestigious business schools worldwide.

This accolade also comes hot on the heels of being ranked this year in the Financial Times’ top 95 European Business Schools, and Financial Times’ world top 95 Masters in Management.

The EQUIS accreditation reflects NBS’ position as the leading business school for business and a leader in personalised and experiential learning.

Professor Baback Yazdani, Dean of Nottingham Business School said: “This accreditation completes what has been an exceptional year for NBS and Nottingham Trent University (NTU) when the School has achieved leading positions in all fields of its activities and NTU has achieved TEF Gold and awarded the Times Higher Education University of the Year too. I want to pay tribute to our outstanding staff and student community who have all been instrumental in this accolade, propelling us into the top echelons of business schools in the world.

“Gaining the EQUIS accreditation recognises the constant and inexorable focus of our School on continuous improvement which is at the heart of our culture and ethics. It also recognises our commitment to provide every single student with an education that is:

  • personalised to the learner’s individual needs and ambitions
  • always has an experiential, with placements, internships, industry projects and
  • internationalised, with partnerships with 110 institutions around the world, and a staff and student community coming from over 100 different countries and opportunities to study and work abroad
  • sustainable, with a responsible business ethos pervading every area of NBS

“Our whole School is very proud of what has been achieved so far, and we very much look forward to building on this momentum to fulfil our mission of providing education and research that combines excellence with a positive impact on business and society”.

Martin Schader, EQUIS Director commented: “We are delighted to welcome Nottingham Business School at Nottingham Trent University into the community of EQUIS accredited schools. Nottingham Business School is an example of a school which leverages its corporate connections and provides its students with an outstanding personalisation programme, which could serve as a best practice model in the sector. It is a true pleasure to congratulate on the success of a school which has moved up the quality improvement ladder, from having its BA International Business Suite accredited by EPAS (EFMD Programme Accreditation System) four years ago to achieving the leading international recognition for the whole institution”.
