RIZKMCCAY SHORTLISTED FOR NATIONAL DESIGN AWARD

CREATIVE design and strategic marketing agency RizkMcCay has been nominated for a national award at The Drum Chip Shop Awards.

The Nottingham-based agency has been shortlisted alongside other firms from throughout the UK in the Best Health category for its hypothetical NHS campaign targeting young people to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation.

The Drum Chip Shop Awards were born after Barnacles Fish & Chip Shop in Llandudno, Wales won a heap of awards with an advertising campaign that was the work of an unknown in advertising whose client was his mum.

The Drum founded the Chip Shop Awards in the fallout which saw many awards tightening their rules to keep amateurs out. These awards recognise and celebrate pure, unadulterated creativity, with anything and everything allowed.

Marc Wilson, the graphic designer at RizkMcCay behind the nominated work, said:

“Having the freedom of no rules or brief allowed me to be truly creative with raising awareness of the important topic of organ donation. It is of course an incredibly important initiative to encourage people to sign up to the organ donation register, but I didn’t want this advert to be too serious. By adding a tongue-in-cheek pun the work instantly became more relatable and the judges clearly thought that too!”

Nadia Rizk, creative director at RizkMcCay, said:

“It’s fantastic to see the work of our team recognised for its creative approach. The premise behind these awards has allowed us to show the talents we have and what sets us apart from our competitors. The award entry started as somewhat of an internal competition, with all staff presenting their ideas for entries – not just the design team.

“The great thing about these awards is that there are no restrictions. This gives the whole team the absolute freedom to come up with some really unique work and show off their unencumbered creativity without any limitations. Day-to-day, much of our work involves responding to specific briefs but it definitely helps sometimes just to have no limitations.

“The NHS organ donation work produced by Marc was the clear front runner, and it’s fantastic that the Chip Shop Awards agree with our choice.

“There is a huge amount of creativity in the UK and we are in great company in the shortlist for Best Health – well done to all nominated.”

The results will be announced and chips handed out at the awards evening in Brixton, London on Friday 13 June.
