India: Meet the Expert – an event organised by UKTI

India: Meet the Expert, UKTI International Trade Centre, Innovation House, Raynesway, Derby – 19 September 2014

The UKTI have asked us to circulate the following message to our members.

As part of our extremely popular series of business development visits to the region, we are delighted to announce this visit for September 2014.

Milind Godbole, Senior Trade & Investment Adviser for UKTI at the British Deputy High Commission in Gujarat, will be visiting the UKTI East Midlands office on Friday 19th September.

He will be available for 1-2-1 meetings to discuss the business opportunities that currently exist in India and to answer any questions you may have with regards to topics such as market access and business climate.

Why consider India?

India may be a complex and challenging market but it is one that cannot be ignored by UK companies that are seeking to expand or go international. India is the second fastest growing economy in the world, after China. It is a vast country, about a third of the size of the US, and made up of 29 different states. The market varies widely across its many different regions and states.

The business opportunities, which a few years ago, existed only in the traditional economic heartlands of Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore have now stretched to the emerging cities of Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Pune and Jaipur, to name but a few.

Benefits for British businesses exporting to India include:
• English widely spoken
• Common legal and administrative history
• Rising personal incomes creating a new middle class consumer market
• Gateway to south east Asian markets

Strengths of the Indian market include:
• Fast growing economy with one of the world’s largest youth populations
• Expanding emerging cities with more than 50 cities having over a million people
• Availability of skilled, low cost workforce
• Good network of banks, financial institutions and an organised capital market
