BWB Group has achieved Platinum Standard with Investors in People (IIP)

The Nottingham-based engineering and environmental consultancy, BWB Group, has achieved national recognition as one of the UK’s best employers for the way it looks after its people and actively involves them in how the business is run.

BWB Group, which has its UK headquarters in Nottingham, has achieved Platinum Standard with Investors in People (IIP) – the internationally recognised benchmark for assessing how people engagement underpins business success.

BWB, which employs 120 people in Nottingham, is one of only 88 firms across the whole of the UK to have achieved the elite Platinum standard, which involves a “rigorous” independent assessment of the way the company is run, with the findings validated by confidential employee feedback.

BWB achieved Platinum after working its way through Silver and Gold Standards, and says its rise to the top 2-3% of IIP-accredited firms has been reflected in consistent business growth, profitability and success.

Robert Haywood, the company’s Investors in People consultant, said: “Over the past five years the company responded very well to the challenge of developing its culture and investing in its workforce. The achievement of Platinum accreditation is well deserved and reflects the company’s drive to become a great employers.

“Its people work with intelligence and commitment to serve customers and help ensure that the BWB brand is respected, while also ensuring that the company performs incredibly well as a business.”

Elizabeth Hardwick-Smith, BWB’s head of HR, said: “Competition for talent in the consulting engineering sector is intense. We recognised some time ago that a competitive salary package was no longer sufficient to attract or retain talented people.

“Our people want to know that they are in a stimulating environment, that their views really count, and that they can achieve personal and professional growth whilst also playing an active role in delivering business success. We strive very hard to ensure that’s what BWB offers them.”

She added: “This isn’t something that happens overnight in any organisation. For BWB’s leaders, it has required a long-term commitment to empowering our people and making clear that, as far as we are concerned, great ideas originate at all levels of the business.”
