BWB rise to the challenge in aid of charity – a blog by Steve Wooler

Eight intrepid souls from BWB, the Nottingham head-quartered engineering and environmental consultancy, recently completed an arduous 30 mile hike around some of the highest peaks in Derbyshire – and on one of the hottest days of the year to boot! Their mission was to raise funds for WaterAid by taking part in the 21st annual Severn Trent Water Mountain Challenge. In addition to the sheer length of the course, there was also the small matter of needing to ascend almost 6,000 feet of fell including Kinder Scout above Edale, and the Derwent Ridge overlooking Howden, Upper Derwent and Ladybower Reservoirs.

The team’s current running total sponsorship stands just shy of £2,000. It would be fantastic if Nottingham’s business community could help BWB surpass their previous record total of £2,350 by pledging sponsorship by visiting – http://my.wateraidfundraising.org.uk/stevewooler

BWB have supported WaterAid for many years and this was the sixth time in seven years that they have taken part in the Challenge, raising approximately £10 000 in total, for a fantastic humanitarian charity whose work literally transforms the lives of whole communities in some of the world’s most impoverished countries (for examples see www.wateraid.co.uk).

Steve Wooler, BWB’s Managing Director, took part in the Challenge and is delighted that once again they have raised a significant sum for a charity that is very close to his heart as a civil engineer.

“Walking for just under 12 hours non-stop is hard work, but it’s nothing compared to the daily challenges faced by the hundreds of millions of people across the globe who have no safe and reliable water supply or basic sanitation. WaterAid’s work makes a lasting and transformational impact in the communities in which it works across the globe. BWB feels privileged in helping them deliver life-long improvements to so many lives”.

A big congratulations to Steve and the rest of the team on your fantastic achievement.
