The return of live meetings

With the 17th May being a huge milestone for the meetings industry, venues are breathing a sigh of relief that they’re finally able to open their doors and start welcoming guests who wish to get back to holding live meetings and events.  Many venues have been closed since COVID 19 restrictions were imposed back in March 2020 but behind closed doors they’ve been preparing for re-opening and identifying ways in which live events can resume safely.

Re-building consumer confidence is something venues, and the Government, are working hard to achieve – appreciating that for some, it may take time to be comfortable with being back in a room with work colleagues, associates or even complete strangers at conferences and events.

To support the above, the Government’s Event Research Programme held its first trial earlier this month and saw 400 people gather for the start of The Good Business Festival at ACC Liverpool.  Guests did not have to wear masks or socially distance, but all attendees had to take a test before and after the event to identify virus spread – if any.

In addition, approximately 6,000 partygoers attended an event at Bramley-Moore Dock warehouse in Liverpool across two days. Again, the event did not enforce any social distancing or face coverings but each ticket-holder required a negative Covid test result before being allowed in, with additional post event tests.

Working remotely, only being able to communicate over the phone or via a virtual platform is something we’ve all had to adapt to, but this no longer has to be the case.  Larger team or company meetings are now able to take place.  Perhaps a one-off get-together or a regular weekly or monthly meeting or event may be something that you’d like to arrange.  If you’re unsure as to how venues will manage bookings please contact Rachel Stewart, Event Manager for our Meet in Nottingham Team who will be more than happy to liaise with venues on your behalf and obtain all relevant information including availability, rates, package options and Covid safety policies.

Venues are eager to welcome back guests and have some great packages and rates available – to find out more please contact Rachel.
