A note from our Chairman, Paul Southby

I hope that all Nottingham Partners, Members and Stakeholders have had a good summer.

Team Marketing NG have been very busy in the summer months with the Inward Investment team dealing with a number of significant enquiries across the county area. They are engaged in all of the major development projects underway and about to commence in the city.

Our Visit Nottinghamshire team provided support to Nottinghamshire County Council on the recent successful hosting of a stage of the Tour of Britain cycle race and is actively supporting Nottingham’s bid to become European City of Culture 2023 along with a number of other major projects. In addition, they are working hard to support members within the visitor economy and leisure sectors to attract new business to Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

There are a number of personnel changes just round the corner and at this point I would like to mention one in particular. Simon Gray, who I worked closely with during my time as Chairman of Nottingham Means Business, will be leaving Marketing NG at the end of October to concentrate on business projects of his own. Simon guided Nottingham Means Business as it transitioned from the Invest in Nottingham Club following the untimely death of Jim Taylor, and has worked hard to consolidate the Nottingham member base and build the profile of Nottingham Means Business, now part of Nottingham Partners, over the last few years. He is leaving to focus on a project of his own in the careers sector and I am sure all of our members will join me in thanking Simon for his efforts and wishing him good fortune going forward.

I will be sorry to see Simon leave, as I am sure will be our Nottingham members, but we will most likely continue to work with him on an occasional basis and I know that he – as ever – is fully supportive of our efforts to sell Nottingham and Nottinghamshire to those who might invest here or visit the city and county.

I look forward to meeting as many members as possible at our forthcoming events in Nottingham and the County.
