“By being a member, we gain access to good local events that are very professionally run with some great speakers. These events are always good for networking and catching up with friends in the local business community, as well as key figures in the public sector. The professional nature of the events means that we are proud to be connected to these as sponsors”. Neil Harrison, Associate Director, Arup
“Attending the networking events is a must for us. The topics presented at the lunch are always relevant to the local business community and promote networking in a relaxed and positive environment. We have many clients and prospective clients who are members and more recently, have gained a number of new suppliers directly through the networking events. We will be sponsoring our second lunch this year and will be looking to make this part of our annual plan going forward.” Stephen Mason, Managing Director, Mason Infotech
Nottingham Partners Members’ Lunch – 8 November 2019
This lunch will be held on Friday 8th November 2019 and starts at 12 noon. It is being held at the Derek Randall Suite at Trent Bridge.
We are pleased to confirm that this lunch is being sponsored by Champions (UK) plc.
We’re delighted to announce that our first speaker will be Adam Penford, the Artistic Director from Nottingham Playhouse.
The creative industries are the UK’s fastest growing sector, with jobs increasing by four times the national average. Nottingham Playhouse has been a key player in Nottingham’s cultural landscape since 1948 and generates £25 million in economic impact for the East Midlands each year. They work in close partnership with Nottingham City Council, the universities and many local businesses to improve the lives of those living in our community. Regarded as an influential venue within the theatre sector, many leading actors including Ian McKellen and Judi Dench began their careers at the Playhouse. Adam Penford was appointed as the new Artistic Director in 2018 and his productions include the award-winning The Madness of George III by Alan Bennett starring Mark Gatiss. In the last year audiences have increased by over 10% and the organisation recently won the prestigious Regional Theatre of the Year Award 2019.
Our second speaker will be Tristan Hessing of One Thoresby Street. Tristan will be covering the joint work (unique to Nottingham) of One Thoresby Street, Primary, and Backlit.
Tristan Hessing founded One Thoresby Street with fellow graduates in 2004, having emerged from Nottingham Trent University as a fine artist to find a lack of studios and gallery space in Nottingham. Fifteen years later, One Thoresby Street is a thriving artistic hub in the heart of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter and has played a crucial role in the city’s cultural and creative development.
Tristan will be sharing knowledge of how art studio culture in Nottingham functions as a cooperative, supportive environment, and how a network of likeminded organisations work together to support one another and the communities they serve and to achieve growth.
Our third speaker will be Stephen Mapp, the Chief Executive of Broadway.
Stephen will be taking a glimpse behind the scenes at Nottingham’s four screen independent cinema, talking a little about its history and development, the strategic partnership it has with the British Film Institute and its wider role in the arts, education and talent development.
