Merry Christmas and wishing you a very prosperous 2016

Thank you to everyone who attended our Christmas Drinks last Wednesday evening, which was a chance to celebrate some of this year’s successes and look to the future. A big thank you to Russell Scanlan for sponsoring the event and for Park Plaza for hosting.

NMB Christmas Drinks 2015L-R: Simon Gray (NMB), Tom Waldron-Lynch (Park Plaza) and Mike Dickinson (Russell Scanlan) at the NMB Christmas Drinks.

It’s been a very busy year for Nottingham Means Business. February was a special month and a very proud moment to win in the category of Midlands Business Club of the Year at the Midlands Business Awards 2015 held in Birmingham.

This year we held six lunches, which were attended by over 550 members and guests along with three sector specific events (manufacturing, broadband and creative), our ARM (Annual Review Meeting), Race Day and Christmas Drinks where we collectively hosted over 320 people.

Our membership currently stands at 219 and over 1,100 people receive our fortnightly update.

While 2015 has been busy we anticipate that 2016 will be even busier. With the creation of Marketing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, as a city and county we have the opportunity to better promote ourselves on the national and international stage. Set against the backdrop of devolution, with a collaborative effort, the right ambition and the determination to get things done, it’s my hope that 2016 will be a year to remember.

We’ll start 2016 with our biggest lunch ever, kindly sponsored and hosted by Nottingham Trent University. This will take place on 29 January and speakers are now confirmed. To book your place please visit the website.

Next year under our banners of inform, inspire and invest, we’re determined to expand our reach, grow our membership and be the champion for business engagement, to support the growth and ambitions of our members and the special place where the majority of us live and work.

In the meantime, Christmas is a time to recharge the batteries, spend time with loved ones and to celebrate the culmination of another year. Until then, on behalf of Natalie, the NMB Board and I, have a wonderful Christmas and every good fortune for the forthcoming year.

Best wishes

Simon Gray
