Breakfast and games at the National Videogame Arcade

A big thank you to everyone who attended last week’s special breakfast event held at GameCity / National Videogame Arcade (NVA) in Nottingham. Thanks too to Iain and Laura for the breakfast and hosting the 50 plus attendees so well.

Sitting in the heart of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter, the NVA is the only one of it’s kind in the world and in addition to providing a nostalgic trip down memory lane, provides education and learning experiences for people interested in a career in gaming.

GameCity were also one of our Creative Class 2015 (#CC2015) and it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to find out more about the great work they do ahead of their first birthday celebrations at the weekend.

This event was also an opportunity to collaborate with the Nottingham Growth Hub and a special thank you to Anthony Byrne for supporting the event.

Iain Simons, Director at GameCity and the NVA had this to say:

‘It was a huge pleasure to welcome the NMB breakfast event to the National Videogame Arcade, clearly disavowing the idea that gamers never get out of bed until lunchtime.

Here at the NVA, we’ve had an amazing first year establishing the business in the heart of the Creative Quarter and it’s a real honour to be working alongside our new neighbours in the city.

As well as our core visitor and education experiences, we’re keen to explore how much value videogames can bring to businesses and organisations. As team-development environments, as problem-solving tools and simply as staff entertainment experiences we think that videogames offer huge potential. We’re really keen to hear the thoughts of people who came along to see if we can help explore those ideas more.

Thanks so much for welcoming us to the Creative Quarter and to NMB. We’re looking forward to getting much more involved in the future of Nottingham!’
