A message from our Chairman, Paul Southby

Dear Nottingham Partners members,

As you will be aware, Brendan Moffett who is chief executive of Marketing NG leaves the company on Friday 29 March 2019.

Over the last two and a half years Brendan has led the company and the constituent Invest in Nottingham, Visit Nottinghamshire and Nottingham Partners teams ably, and – as chairman of the company, but also on behalf of the city – I would like to place on record my thanks for all of his hard work and commitment to making Nottingham more attractive to investors and visitors and to promoting the city’s increasingly great offer. It is a shame that Brendan is leaving us at a time when there is increasing pace in development in and around Nottingham and a renewed sense of excitement about the future, but he can be proud of the part he has played in getting us to this point. I am sure you will all join me in wishing him well for the future. All of the company’s staff are sad to see Brendan leave, and have enjoyed working with him.

In the immediate term, one of our board members Stephen Jackson will stand in on a part time basis to oversee the various current work strands and to work with the staff. For the time being I will take an increased role in Nottingham Partners once more, and I look forward to seeing members at our various forthcoming events.

How Brendan is to be replaced is currently being considered with our board and with funders, and consideration is being given to bringing Marketing NG closer to other private sector based city teams whose work might be said to overlap with ours. I am keen to ensure that city-wide resources are used most effectively for the benefit of our local economy and to promote Nottingham as a great place to experience and the great place to live, work, study, be entertained, and do business we all know it to be. I have thought for many years that a simpler landscape amongst city agencies would be of benefit both in terms of developing and fixing the city offer to its local, national and international customers, and to support a truly long-term vision for growth and economic sustainability in and around Nottingham. I trust that by our next members lunch in May, sponsored by our member Arup, I will be able to say much more about that.

In the meantime, normal service to members will continue. Thank you for your support for Nottingham Partners and your commitment to the cause. Thanks once again, and for a final time, to Brendan – it has been fun working with you.

Best wishes,

Paul Southby
