Neil Hoyle

It is with great sadness that I have to tell members about the sudden and unexpected death earlier this week of Neil Hoyle, the regular photographer at Nottingham Partners events, who has supported the organisation through his work and membership since the creation of Invest in Nottingham Club and through Nottingham Means Business to the present day.

Neil was virtually an ever-present at Nottingham Partners events and took some great shots of members and guests over the years. Accompanying this note is a rare photograph of him with the Cricket World Cup at our recent event at Trent Bridge, and those of you who were at our most recent event, the lunch at Alea on 10 May, will remember that he took the photos on that occasion too. I could not have imagined that less than a fortnight later he would no longer be with us, and am grateful to have had that last opportunity to chat with him.

Beyond his work, members will remember that Neil was always willing to chat to colleagues at our lunches and other events and his presence will be genuinely missed in future. Having worked for many years at the Nottingham Post, he knew a lot about Nottingham and often had a wise word for me on this and that. He was a great friend of Jim Taylor, the founder of Invest in Nottingham Club and hence of Nottingham Partners, and no doubt Neil will be taking Jim’s picture “upstairs” with other old friends now.

Our sincere condolences to Neil’s wife Kate. I believe there will be a longer tribute to him in the Post, so please watch out for that.

Best Wishes
